Heather began her career at Wayne State University Law Library in Detroit, Michigan in 1986. In 1994 she moved up the street to run the General Motors Legal Staff Library where she learned patent searching. In 2000 she relocated to the GM R&D Library to learn science and technology searching. She returned to academic law libraries in 2013 when she became the Law & Business Librarian at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She moved to Georgia in 2019 to become the Associate Director for Instruction and Access Services at the University of Georgia in Athens.
Heather earned her Bachelor of Arts in Classical Archaeology from the University of Michigan, her Juris Doctor from Wayne State University and her Master of Arts in Library Science from the University of Michigan. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, and is active in the American Association of Law Libraries.
